  3. Registering for an Autonomous System Number implies that you plan to
  4. implement one or more gateways and use them to connect networks in the
  5. DDN-Internet.  Please provide us with further details about your plans,
  6. and with information about the administrative authority you have for
  7. participating in the Internet.

  9. It is strongly advised that you follow the development of
  10. inter-autonomous systems protocols in the IAB task forces.
  11.

  23.    To obtain an Autonomous System Number the following information
  24.    must be provided:
  25.  
  26.    NOTE: The key people must have electronic mailboxes and NIC
  27.    "Handles," unique NIC database identifiers.  If you have access to
  28.    WHOIS, please check to see if you are registered and if so, make
  29.    sure the information is current.  Include only your Handle and any
  30.    changes (if any) that need to be made in your entry.  If you do not
  31.    have access to WHOIS, or are not registered in the NIC WHOIS
  32.    database, please provide all the information requested and a NIC
  33.    Handle will be assigned.

  35.    1) The name, title, mailing address, phone number, and organization
  36.    of the administrative head of the organization.  This is the
  37.    contact point for administrative and policy questions about the
  38.    autonomous system.  In the case of a research project this should
  39.    be the Principal Investigator.  The online mailbox and NIC Handle
  40.    (if any) of this person should also be included.

  60.    contact point for problems with the autonomous system and for
  61.    updating information about the autonomous system.  Also, the
  62.    technical contact may be held responsible for the behavior of
  63.    gateways in this autonomous system.

  80.    3) The name of the autonomous system (up to 12 characters).  This
  81.    is the name that will be used in tables and lists associating
  82.    autonomous systems and numbers.

  86.    4) A description of the gateway that implements the inter-autonomous
  87.    system protocol for interaction with other autonomous systems.
  88.    Currently the exterior gateway protocol (EGP) is being used for this
  89.    purpose (RFC 904).  This gateway should comply with RFC 1009,
  90.    Requirements for Internet Gateways.

  92.       Example: This is a new gateway developed by the XYZ Group at the
  93.       ABC Corporation.

  100.    5) A description of the gateway hardware, including CPU and
  101.    interfaces.

  104.       Interfaces by 3COM.

  106.    6) A description of the gateway software, including operating
  107.    system and languages.

  109.       Example: The gateway is implemented using language "C" and runs
  110.       Berkeley 4.2 Unix.

  112.    7) The deployment schedule for the autonomous system.
